Service Delivery Start and End

The Service Delivery Start and End are key moments in the collaboration between a company and its clients. They mark the beginning and end of the services contractually guaranteed by the company.

These points are defined from the client's perspective:
The Service Delivery Start refers to the beginning of the actual work on the project outcome, not preparatory phases such as pitching or budgeting. Correspondingly, the Service Delivery End marks the moment when the service has been fully rendered, regardless of the project completion or billing.

Example for clarification

Client:
John wants to redesign his living room and turns to interior designer Jane.

Initialization:
On April 1, 2023, Jane discusses John's ideas and needs. Jane uses OS/ to record the project and sets it as "Created".

Planning:
Jane visits to measure the living room and decide on colors and materials. Confident of winning the contract, she sets the project status to "Expected".

Contracting:
On April 10, 2023, John confirms his decision, and Jane updates the project status to "Confirmed".

Production Phase:

Jane needs three weeks to manufacture the furniture and design the living room. Meanwhile, she coordinates the delivery times and sets the Service Delivery Start date to April 15, 2023, when she will begin the design.

Completion of Work:

On May 5, 2023, Jane completes the work. John reviews and accepts the new design of his living room. This marks the end of the service delivery.

Invoicing and Project Conclusion:

Jane issues the invoice and checks the next day to ensure everything has been satisfactorily completed before setting the project status to "Completed" on May 7, 2023.
